Adaptive Architecture

Engineered living materials

Research goals

New materials technologies that enable buildings to sense, adapt, respond to functional and environmental conditions

  • Reduce impact on the environment by lowering CO2 emissions
  • Improve performance of buildings through responsive materials
  • Introduce structural health monitoring and maintenance of aging buildings through multifunctional materials

On-going project
